TORONTO – Major League Baseball (MLB) club Toronto Blue Jays have been announced as an Official Supporter of the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2017, which will be staged in Thunder Bay, Canada, from 1-10 September.

As part of the agreement, the Blue Jays, through their Jays Care Foundation, will host a “Baseball Youth Day” on 30 August in Thunder Bay to promote baseball in the region and help draw the nation’s attention to the upcoming U-18 Baseball World Cup.

“The presence of the Toronto Blue Jays — one of the most popular professional sports teams in Canada — in Thunder Bay will bring a huge boost to this year’s U-18 Baseball World Cup and help serve its legacy to help grow and attract Canada’s next generation of fans and athletes to our sport,” said WBSC Baseball Head of Global Marketing, Masaru Yokoo.

The U-18 Baseball World Cup 2017 in Thunder Bay has attracted over 40 global and regional supporters and partners, including top-tier partners Air Canada, CN Rail, Goldcorp and Tbaytel.

WBSC and MLB also recently announced a Global Pro Players Agreement for the inclusion of MLB affiliated players at the U-18 Baseball World Cup.
