THUNDER BAY (Ontario), Canada-Only 5 Nations have claimed the U-18 baseball World Cup in 28th editions: Cuba (11 times), USA (9), South Korea (5), Chinese Taipei (2) and Canada (1)

The U-18 Baseball World Cup is ready for the 28th edition. The tournament was played every year from 1991 through 1997, then in 1999, in 2000 and every even year through 2012. It was played again in 2013 and then every odd year.

Only 5 Nations claimed a gold medal so far: Cuba (11 times, 4 in a row from 1984 through 1987), USA (8, including the last 3 in a row; USA claimed a record 11 silver medals), South Korea (5, including 2 in a row: 2006 and 2008), Chinese Taipei (2; 8 silver medals) and Canada (1; together with Cuba, Canada is the only Nation that won a gold medal on home soil).

Japan is ranked number 1 in the world by WBSC, but has yet to win a U-18 World Cup. Samurai earned 4 silver medals. In the last 2 editions they lost the World Championship game against USA by one run: 3-2 in 2013 and 2-1 in 2015

Canada is hosting the tournament for a record 13th time. The U-18 World Cup was played in the USA 5 times, including the first 3 editions in a row, the last time in 1995. Cuba and Taiwan were the hosts of 3 editions. Australia, Mexico, Korea and Japan each hosted the U-18 World Cup once.
