Social media exploded across Mexican society, with celebrities, artists, writers, musicians, politicians, major news networks, journalists, athletes and clubs from other sports, and fans liking, retweeting and/or sending celebratory tweets in response to the Mexican U-23 National Baseball Team’s historic victory.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation revealed the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup® 2018 “All-World Team” Sunday night, following the conclusion of the World Championship Final between Mexico and the Japan at Estadio de Biesbol Edgar Renteria.

It was an incredibile final. Starting pitchers Hiroki Kondo and Carlos Morales duelled for nine innings. The new World Champions took the lead in the top of the tenth, Japan fought back to finish with the bases loaded

Starter Nivaldo Rodriguez, a prospect in the Houston Astros organization, pitched 5 solid innings. Korea tied the game on the bull pen, but Venezuela stroke back and scored the winning run thanks to some old fashioned hustle

Solid pitching by starter Ryu Hee Woon kept Korea in the game, pinch hitter Choe Tae Seong provided a two-RBI single that reversed the lead, reliever Yi Jin won picked the save. Korea in the bronze medal game

World No. 2 Japan and No. 6 Mexico will meet in Sunday’s Gran Finale. The winner will be crowned World Champions in the U-23 category.
