Day 2 velocity, distance leaders: Hepburn (AUS) throws fastest pitch of the Women’s Baseball World Cup

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) announced the Top Pitch and Exit Velocities, and Top Carry Distances of Day 2 of the 50-game Women’s Baseball World Cup® 2018.

VIERA, Florida — The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) today announced the Top Pitch and Exit Velocities, and Top Carry Distances of Day 2 of the 50-game Women’s Baseball World Cup® 2018.

Australian National Team starting pitcher Brittany Hepburn registered the fastest pitch – 76.4 mph/122.9 km/h –  of the global tournament on Day 2, following 12 official games. Hepburn topped out on her 10th pitch in the first inning of Australia’s game versus the Dominican Republic.

USA Baseball slugger Megan Baltzell’s exit velocity of 94.3 mph/151.7 km/h, recorded on Day 1 (22 August), remains the hardest hit ball of the Women’s Baseball World Cup 2018.

Australia’s Chelsea Forkin hit the farthest ball of Day 2 at 316 ft/96.3 m, which matched the top distance of Puerto Rico’s Diamilette Quiles from Day 1.

The VIII Women’s Baseball World Cup – the biggest and highest-level women’s baseball platform in the world – is being staged at the USSSA Space Coast Complex from 22-31 August, marking the first time the global event is played in the U.S.
