Pam Am Women’s Baseball Day 1: Dominican Republic tops Argentina; rain suspends Mexico-Puerto Rico

The Pan Am Qualifier for WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2018 started today in the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The Pan Am Qualifier for WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2018 opened today in the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The host nation took its first win of the tournament against Argentina, 13-3, while Mexico and Puerto Rico were suspended in 6th inning due to rain, with Puerto Rico ahead, 3-2.

Puerto Rico and Mexico will resume tomorrow at 9:00 a.m, with Mexico taking the bat in the bottom of the 6th inning.

Highlighting the growing interest of the women’s baseball discipline, the live-stream of the Mexico-Puerto Rico game drew over 100k views, before being suspended.

In scheduled games tomorrow, Puerto Rico will face the Dominican Republic, while Argentina and Mexico will play the final game of the day.

The event in Santo Domingo represents the historic debuts of the Women’s National Baseball Teams of Argentina and Mexico.

The top two teams in Santo Domingo will qualify for the VIII WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2018 from 22-31 August at the USSSA Space Coast Complex in Viera, Florida.
