Japan shuts out China, stays undefeated in group B of the Softball World Championship

Superstars Yamada and Ueno led Japan to a shut out won against China. In the morning game Outfielder Li Qi provided all the offense China needed against Great Britain’s Elizabeth Fleming and scored the winning run

Japan closed the Day 3 of the Women’s Softball World Championship at NASPA stadium in Chiba. The hosts defeated China 5-0.

Japan wasted no time in taking the lead. Eri Yamada led of with a double against Zhao Xinxing and scored on a defensive error.
Yamada was not finished. In the bottom of the second she homered to left and extended Japan’s lead to 3-0.

Japan broke the score open in the bottom of the third adding 2 more runs on 3 hits. The two run rally was capped by a line drive double in the gap to left center by designated player Yamato Fujita.

Yukiko Ueno worked 5 innings, gave up a hit and a walk and struck out 6, before leaving room to Yamato Fujita.

China had only 2 hits against Great Britain’s Elizabeth Fleming and rightfielder Li Qi got them both. The second, a double with one out in the bottom of the sixth, proved to be the key to another 1-0 win.
Ki advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a sacrifice fly to left by center fielder Chen Jia.
Wang Lan went the distance for the win, allowing only 4 hits (no extra bases) and striking out 11.

Li Qi scored the winning run

In Akitsu stadium Venezuela shut out Botswana, 8-0. Venezuela pitchers (Jamee Juarez, Michelle Floyd and Alondra Perez) combined 10 strike outs and 4 home runs (2 by Mirian Jimenez, one by Yuruby Alicart, one by Milagros Yozada) gave them all the run support they needed.
