TAICHUNG, Taiwan – Following three complete days of competition, World’s No. 1 Japan and No. 9 Chinese Taipei remain undefeated, advancing to the playoffs at the Women’s Softball Asian Championship 2017 Taichung.
Japan and Chinese Taipei have both earned four wins each, with Japan still not allowing a single run to be scored on them.
In Pool A, the Philippines and Hong Kong both posted two wins today as each are fighting for the one remaining playoff slot.
In Pool B, China’s loss to Chinese Taipei has opened the door for Singapore and Indonesia to possibly sneak into the playoffs with 2-2 records.
The Championship’s preliminary round robin phase will end tomorrow. The top four teams from each pool will advance to the playoffs.
The 12-nation regional championship will qualify the top 3 teams for the 2018 WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship in Chiba, Japan and the top 5 teams for the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
