Softball World Championship: China, Chinese Taipei, Great Britain, Venezuela advance in the placement round

The teams that advanced in the placement round are: China, Chinese Taipei. Great Britain and Venezuela. South Africa, Botswana, Philippines and New Zealand are eliminated

Zhaon Xinxing pitched a six inning one hitter and led China to a win, 3-0, against South Africa in the placemente round.
China scored the go ahead run in the bottom of the first thanks to a base hit by Lu Ying against South Africa starter Nushka De Beer.
China added a couple of runs on hits by Lu Ying and Xu Qianwen in the bottom of the fourth. Lu Ying and Liu Lili combined for fourt of the six hits China could get against De Beer.

Oreabetse Mojeremane kept Botswana in the game for 3 innings, then Chinese Taipei broke the score open with a three run rally in the bottom of the fourth, went on to win 8-1 in six and advanced in the placement round.
Chinese Taipei line up combined 9 hits. Catcher Li Szu Shih had an home run and two RBIs.
Botswana didn’t get a hit and scored the lonely run on three walks by Lin Ying Hsin. Tsai Chia Chen pitched 4.1 innings in relief and earned the win.

Great Britain came from behind to defeat the Phillippines, 2-1, and advance in the Placement Round.
The Philippines took an early lead in the top of the second against Great Britain starter Carling Hare thanks to base hits by Skylynne Ellazar and Cristy Roa. Georgina Corrick took over for Hare and allowed only a hit over the rest of the game, while striking out 7.
Great Britain got to Philippines starter Riflayca Basa in the bottom of the sixth with a pair of hits by Victoria Charters and Kendyl Scott. With runners at the corners, the Philippines gave the call to Mary Ann Antolihao. A wild pitch and a single by Lauren Evans gave Great Britain the lead.

Venezuela shut out, 4-0, and outhit, 10-3, New Zealand to advance in the Placement Round.
A base hit by Denisse Fuenmayor off Taylor Stewart gave Venezuela the go ahead run in the top of the first.
Desiree Ybarra and Michelle Floyd preserved the lead until Venezuela broke the score open with a three run rally in the top of the seventh, capped by a two run homr by Yuruby Alicart.

The winners will play the same day for ninth place
