Coincidentally with the celebration of the World Softball Day, today marks 50 days to go to the WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship, to be played in Chiba, Japan, from 2-12 August.

We’re just 50 days away from the opening game of the WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship, to be held on 2 August, at 20:00 p.m., in NASPA Stadium, between two teams with rich Olympic history: host Japan and Italy. The game will be played right after the Opening Ceremony, scheduled at 18:30 p.m. This will be the only game of the day, since all the other teams will make their debut on 3 August.

National Teams around the world are working hard to tune up for the tournament, with plenty of activity all over the planet in the next 50 days.

This week Taiwan is hosting the 7th East Asian Cup, where China, Chinese Taipei and Japan will continue working to build-up their teams.

World Champion USA has arrived in Houston, Texas to take part in a series of workouts and practice sessions before participating in exhibition games at the Scrap Yard Sports Complex, from 11-17 June. USA Softball also announced their training camp in Iwakuni, Japan, as the team prepares for the World Championship.

Next week, from 20-23 June, Japan and USA will play the Japan All Star Series, with games in Tokyo, Sendai and Fukushima.

Canada is kicking off its 2018 season with a two-week Japan Tour that will include fourteen 14 games against several local Japanese teams between June 14-26. The red and white team will head overseas with a roster of 21 athletes.

The preparation process will get hotter and hotter in July, when National Teams compete in events like the USA Softball International Cup from 9-15 July (nine of the 16 World Championship teams will be present there: USA, Japan, Chinese Taipei, China, Canada, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Venezuela, Philippines) and the Canada Cup from 17-22 July.

Finally, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela will participate in the Central American and Caribbean Games Barranquilla 2018, from 20-26 July.

Besides, China and Australia are playing the National Pro Fastpitch season, as the two international teams are boosting their softball programmes trying to secure the first softball Olympic berth in Chiba.

On April Italy and the Netherlands played the NPF European Pro Series, presented by WBSC. The European teams played against USSSA Pride, one of the teams competing in the NPF league in USA.

Venezuela and Italy clashed a few days ago in Caronno Pertusella, Italy, for a two-game series.
