Softball Australia announces preliminary Women’s National Team roster for 2019

Softball Australia announced the Women’s Softball National Team preliminary roster for an exciting and crucial 2019 season. Australia aims to qualify this year for its fifth Olympic Games softball competition in Tokyo 2020 at the Asia/Oceania Softball Olympic Qualifier, to be held in Shanghai, China, from 24-29 September, 2019.

Australia and USA are the only two nations who earned a medal in the four Softball Olympic competitions so far. The Aussie Spirit has won 1 Silver and 3 Bronzes.

After a fourth place performance as host of the Asia Pacific Cup, Australia named 30 players for the 2019 squad. The 30 players will attend an Open Women’s Traning Camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in March as they prepare for the 2019 National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) season in the USA where they will compete as the Aussie Peppers of Minnesota.

Following the conclusion of the NPF season in August 2019 Softball Australia will announce the athletes who will represent the Travelodge Aussie Spirit at the Asia/Oceania Olympic Qualifier in China.
