WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania Qualifier: Australia, China the only unbeaten after two days

After two days of competition, only two teams remain undefeated in the WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania Qualifier. Australia leads the Group A and China is in first place in Group B, both with 2-0 record.

After two days of competition, only two teams remain undefeated in the WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania Qualifier. Australia leads the Group A and China is in first place in Group B, both with 2-0 record. The round robin will finish on Thursday in Shanghai, the top two teams of each group will remain in the hunt of the last available Olympic softball spot.

Hong Kong, China 0-7 Chinese Taipei

Chinese Taipei got back on track in the WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania Qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics at the Shanghai Chongming Sports Training Center with their 7-0 win over Hong Kong China in five innings. Chinese Taipei, the top seed in the tournament, were relived with the win after their opening game defeat to Australia (1-5), while Hong Kong China have put themselves in a precarious position with the defeat as they meet Australia in their final Group B match.

Indonesia 0-8 Australia

Stacey Porter and Taylah Tsitsikronis combined for 5 RBIs to lead Australia to the second win of the tournament. Australia defeated Indonesia, 8-0, in five innings, and leads Group B after two days of competition.

China 8-3 Philippines

China’s Lu Ying home run hit in the top of six helped them earn four runs in their dramatic comeback victory to down Philippines 8-3 and stay on course for their Tokyo Olympics dream.China play Korea in their final game tomorrow and Myers hopes, the team does not take him through another heart beating moment.

New Zealand took an early three run lead in the bottom of the first and added two runs in the next inningfor a 5-0 lead.
