Chinese Taipei, Japan can secure early Premier12 Super Round tickets

The Asian baseball powers topped their Latin American counterparts, Puerto Rico and Venezuela, on opening day of Group B in Taiwan. On Wednesday, it will be another Asia vs. Americas battle.

TAICHUNG and Taoyuan, Taiwan -- World No. 1 Japan and No. 4 Chinese Taipei can book tickets into the WBSC Premier12 Super Round if both Asian teams again top their Latin American opponents, No. 9 Venezuela and No. 11 Puerto Rico, in their next games.

Chinese Taipei will send Yi Chang (Orix Buffaloes - Nippon Professional Baseball) to the mound, while Venezuela will counter with former Major League Baseball pitcher Henderson Alvarez, who made history throwing a no-hitter in 2013 with the Miami Marlins.
