Chinese Taipei press conference, Hu Chin-Lung: “Only one mistake changed the flow of the game”

USA beat Chinese Taipei today at the Tokyo Dome, for the Premier12 Super Round in a very close game that was decided in the bottom of the seventh with a go-ahead, 2-run dinger by Brent Rooker. During the press conference, Chinese Taipei manager Hong I-Ching and left fielder Hu Chin-Lung expressed their feelings about the game.

“It was a good game, especially until the sixth inning,” said manager Hong I-Ching. “Then in the seventh some unexpected things happened and we lost the game. I’m very sorry for the result of the game, however all the players from Chinese Taipei did their best effort today. Unluckily we couldn’t win the match.”

Hu Chin-Lung praised Wu Sheng-Feng’s performance: “Our starter threw the ball very well during the game, he made more than 100 pitches and only made one bad pitch in the seventh inning. The batter hit a home run that changed the game. But this is baseball, this kind of things happens in our game. We need to improve and get ready for the next match.”  

“I feel the same way our manager feels today,” said Hu. “It was a very good match, well played, but I’m very disappointed with the result. There was just a mistake in the seventh inning that changed the flow of the game.”

Tomorrow Chinese Taipei will close the Super Round of the Premier12 2019 against Australia, in a game that will decide the final position of both teams.
