  • Sellouts expected for the top international baseball event of the year.

  • Mexican Pacific League (LMP) club Charros de Jalisco expect a 600 million-peso (31 million USD) impact on the local economy through the hosting of six games of the 2019 WBSC Premier12 in November.

GUADALAJARA, Mexico — The first phase of ticket sales has been launched for the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Premier12® 2019, the top international baseball event of the year and 2020 Olympic qualifier, with tickets now available for the Group A opening round to be staged at the 16,500-seat Estadio Charros de Jalisco from 2-5 November.

The WBSC Premier12 major international baseball competition will feature the world’s top-12 Men’s National Teams and be played over a total of 32 games from 2-17 November. One of three groups, Group A in Guadalajara will feature a six-game round-robin between world No. 2 USA, No. 6 Mexico, No. 8 Netherlands and No. 12 Dominican Republic, with the top two of the group advancing to the Super Round in Japan.

Sellouts and Economic Boost Expected

Hosts of Group A, the Charros de Jalisco professional baseball club of the Mexican Pacific League (LMP), expect an economic impact of $31 million USD to be generated for the region (in accordance with official government estimates/data), while anticipating a sell-out or a near sell-out of the 96,000 total available tickets for the six Group A games. In preparation of the influx, LMP is adjusting its calendar to accommodate the WBSC Premier12.

WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari said: “Fans in Mexico and around the world have been waiting for this day so they could secure their tickets and be present at what is not only the most exciting international baseball competition of the year, but also one of the top international sports events on the 2019 calendar. I am confident that with great hosts like the Charros, who share a vision to evolve baseball into a major global sport, this edition will eclipse all numbers of the successful inaugural Premier12 in 2015.”

Salvador Quirarte Villaseñor, president of the Premier12 Guadalajara 2019 Organising Committee, said: “We are working hard so that the spectators at the stadium and those watching around the world will have a great impression of the city and country of Mexico. And we are confident that the Premier12 will exceed WBSC’s expectations and benchmarks with regard to attendance, economic impact and viewership, helping the sport of baseball to shine at the world level.”
