Chinese Taipei, Korea and Japan will represent Asia in the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-12 Baseball World Cup 2019 in Tainan, Taiwan.

The three nations earned its spot at the Asian Baseball Championship, held in Taipei from 13-19 August. Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Pakistan and Sri Lanka competed in the eight-nations event.

No. 6 Chinese Taipei defeated No. 3 Korea, 3-2, in the finale of the event to claim the Asian championship, while No.2 Japan beat No. 28 Pakistan, 10-0, in the bronze medal game, and clinched the last spot at the U-12 Baseball World Cup 2019.

The three Asian nations will join Italy and Czech Republic in next year’s 12-nation global contest.

Other six teams will qualify to the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2019 through the continental championships: four nations from the Americas, one from Africa, and one from Oceania. The last spot for the World Cup will be given through a wild card.

USA Baseball’s U-12 National Team has been the best youth team on the planet, claiming three consecutive World Championships at the U-12 Baseball World Cup (2013, 2015 and 2017).
