Japan, South Africa and Chinese Taipei in group A; Korea, USA and Venezuela in group B are the teams that won the games of Day 1 of the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2019.

Japan, South Africa and Chinese Taipei in group A; Korea, USA and Venezuela in group B are the teams that won the games of Day 1 of the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2019.

The most interesting game of the day happened after the opening ceremony. The hosts Chinese Taipei defeated Cuba, 4-2, playing excellent baseball behind starter Chen Kai Sheng.

The other two games of Day 1 in group A didn’t provide close competition, as Japan outscored, 21-0, the Czech Republic and South Africa defeated absolute beginners Fiji, 28-2.

The first game in group B saw Venezuela outpower Italy, 15-0 in 5 innings. Venezuela was off an early lead and starter Trujillo proved unbeatable for the Italians.

In the afternoon the USA also showed a lot of power as they shut out Australia, 10-0. Brendan Lewis went the distance, allowing only one hit.

The National Team of the day in group B happened to be Korea. The 7-0 shut out win against Mexico was impressive. Korea’s starter Na Hyun Seo pitched three impressive innings to earn the win.
