The historic opening day of the first-ever WBSC U-12 Softball World Cup is on the books. Peru beat Czech Republic in a tremendous pitching duel, while host team Chinese Taipei earned a 3-inning win over Indonesia. The first-ever U-12 global softball mixed tournament is being held in Tainan City.

In the historic first-ever U-12 Mixed Softball World Cup game, Peru earned a 1-0 win over Czech Republic in Tainan City. The game featured a great pitching duel between Emilia Tsukazan and Adrien Spacek where the young female pitcher from Peru outdueled her male counterpart from the Czech Republic.

Back to back defensive errors by the Czech team in the third inning led to the only run of the game. Ariana Molero bunted and reached safely on an error by Czech second baseman, and then scored on an assistance error by pitcher Spacek.

That was all the support Peruvian pitcher Tsukazan would need; she threw a complete game shutout, allowing 4 hits and 1 walk, with 6 strikeouts.

Spacek was charged with the loss for the European team, in spite of pitching 4 innings of 1 hit ball with 9 Ks and 2 walks.

Game 1 box score.

In the second game of the tournament, Chinese Taipei beat Indonesia, 16-0, in three innings. The host team used two big innings to claim an easy win.

Chinese Taipei took advantage of nine defensive errors to score seven and nine runs in the first two innings respectively.

Yu-Chien Huang fanned 5 in 2 innings and took the win, while Chia-Yi Chen allowed 1 hit in one relief inning, with 1 strikeout. For Indonesia, Quiny Armand took the loss.
