World No. 7 Australia will travel to Irvine, California, USA, aiming to clinch their 6th medal in the WBSC U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup history, and reach their first-ever final in the youth event. This is the goal of the 2019 Australian roster, named after the conclusion of the National Championship.

The WBSC U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup will be held from 11-17 August, 2019, with the best 16 teams in the world. One of the leading softball nations in the world, Australia has been present in every Junior Women’s Softball World Championship since the first edition in Edmonton, Canada, in 1981.

The 2019 Junior Spirit squad will be looking to improve on their 7th place finish in the last U-19 Women’s World Championship in Clearwater 2017. Australia made the playoffs as the second seed in Group B, but then lost to China, 2-0, to end its participation. Georgia Hood will be the only player from 2017 roster to play in Irvine 2019.

The last time Australia climbed the podium was in Brampton 2013, when they lost the bronze medal game against Japan, 9-2, in five innings.
