WBSC Secretary General Beng Choo Low busy with meetings in Manila

MANILA, Philippines-The WBSC Executive Board member from Malaysia talked with the baseball and softball Federations, the Olympic Committee and the Philippines Government about baseball and softball in the 30th South East Asian Games and the Asian Junior Women’s softball championship

Beng Choo Low, WBSC Secretary General, was recently (on 17-18 November, 2017) in Manila, Philippines for some important meetings.

Philippines will be hosting the Asian Junior Women Softball Championship in early May 2018. In addition, Philippines will also be hosting the 30th South East Asian (SEA) Games in November and December 2019. The SEA Games is the largest multi-sport event for the SEA region that is held biennially where the 11 National Olympic Committees in the region.

Beng Choo Low met with Philippines Softball (ASA) President Jean Henri Lhuillier and Philippines Baseball (PABA) Secretary General Joaquin Loyazaga. During the meetings, the WBSC Secretary General discussed the inclusion of Men’s Baseball, Men’s and Women’s softball in the SEA Games 2019 as well as general development of baseball and softball in the Philippines.

Beng Choo Low also met with the Organising Chairman of the 30th SEA Games 2018, the Honorable Alan Cayetano, who is the Philippines Secretary for Foreign Affairs, to discuss the sports programme for the 2018 Games and the inclusion of baseball and softball.

Before leaving Manila Beng Choo Low had the opportunity to meet with Philippine Olympic Committee Secretary General Steve Hontiveros and Board member Julian Camacho for discussion on the 2019 SEA Games and support for Philippines Softball and Philippines Baseball.
