The world championship trophy boasts a modern shape that celebrates and symbolises youth and the glowing future of the sport.

With only 10 days until the first pitch of the event, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) today unveiled the world championship trophy and medals for the U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup, the top men’s junior softball event in the world. Starting on 22 February, the top 12 junior national teams in the world will battle over nine days at Colquhoun Park in Palmerston North, New Zealand.

The Trophy

The U-18 men’s softball world championship trophy is a 45 cm high piece that celebrates and symbolises young softball players and the next generation of the sport.

The golden base of the trophy has the name of the event engraved in black and blue, along with the flag of the host country, the name of the city, and the inscription “World Champions” both in English and Spanish, the official languages of the WBSC.

In the middle of a plexiglass cylinder, the trophy has a cave, forming an hourglass shape, with an iconic golden softball as the centerpiece.

The Medals

The gold, silver and bronze medals also have the softball as the focal point of the design. The front of the medals shows a ball with the WBSC arch logo in the middle, surrounded by the name of the event, the host city and the year. The reverse sides of the gold, silver and bronze medals features the name of the tournament in the middle, while the gold medals have the inscription “WORLD CHAMPIONS” on top of the piece.

The medals will hang from blue and orange lanyards, featuring the name of the event and the WBSC arch logo.

The U-18 Men’s Softball World Championship trophy and medals were custom designed and produced by Italian goldsmiths Fratelli Pazzaglia, based on the brand identity of the newly created event.
