20 days to WBSC Americas Baseball Qualifier in Florida: Official venues close-up

The Olympic baseball qualifier in Florida will be the first official national team competition played since the 2019 WBSC Premier12.

Opening Day of the WBSC Americas Baseball Qualifier, a qualification event for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, is 20 days away.

The showcase venues and cities for Florida 16-game qualifier include Clover Park in St. Lucie County and The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.

Clover Park is located in Port St. Lucie, a city on the Atlantic coast of southern Florida with more than 200k inhabitants. The stadium has a seating capacity of 7,000 and is the home field of the St. Lucie Mets and serves as the New York Mets spring training facility. Built in 1988, the stadium was most recently renovated in 2020.

The field’s left and right field poles are 338 feet away, with center field 410 feet from home plate.

WBSC Baseball Americas Qualifier Schedule

Clover Park will host Group A (USA, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Nicaragua) on Monday, 31 May, and Wednesday, 2 June; and Group B (Cuba, Venezuela, Canada and Colombia) on Tuesday, 1 June.

About 51 miles south is The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, a 160-acre complex with a 7,700 capacity stadium as its centerpiece. Located in the city of West Palm Beach, the stadium, built in 2017, is the Spring Training home of the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros.

The left-field line extends 329 feet, the right-field is 330 feet away, while the longest part of the field sits 408 feet distance from home plate.

The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches will stage Group A games on Tuesday 1 June, and Group B games on Monday, 31 May, and Wednesday, 2 June.

Fans can cover the distance between both fields in about 50 minutes via the I-95 interstate highway.
