Cuba's U-23 National Team manager Eriel Sanchez and top team manager Miguel Borroto announced their pre-selections, with four players making both lists.

The Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB) has announced a shortlist of 70 players for its National Teams that will compete in the Americas qualifier for the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup (19 February-1 March in Nicaragua and Honduras) and the Americas qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games (22-26 March Phoenix, Arizona, USA).

Cuban U-23 National Team manager Eriel Sanchez made a pre-selection of 36 players:

Cuba will compete in group B of the Americas Qualifier for the U-23 Baseball World Cup together with the hosts Honduras, Argentina, Colombia, Guatemala and Panama. The top three finishers will advance to the super round and play against the top three seeds of group A (the hosts Nicaragua, Brazil, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Dominican Republic and Venezuela). The top three of the super round will advance to the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup, which will take place from 2 to 11 October in Mexico.

Cuban National Team manager Miguel Borroto shortlisted 38 players for the Olympic Qualifier:

PITCHERS (15) Carlos Juan Viera, Yosimar Cousin, Yariel Rodríguez, Frank Luis Medina, Yoennis Yera, Lázaro Blanco, Freddy Asiel Álvarez, Yudiel Rodríguez, Liván Moinelo, Raidel Martínez, Ángel Sánchez, Andy Rodríguez, Yamichel Pérez, Brian Chi Montoya and Miguel Lahera.
CATCHERS (5) Ariel Martínez, Yunior Ibarra, Frank Camilo Morejón, Yosvany Alarcón and Yendry Téllez.
INFIELDERS (12) Yordanis Samón, Bárbaro Erisbel Arruebarruena, Raúl González, César Prieto, Yurisbel Gracial, Dayán García, Edilse Silva La O, Pavel Quesada, Jeferson Delgado, Alexander Ayala, Leslie Anderson and Yordanis Alarcón.
OUTFIELDERS (6) Yoelkis Guibert, Roel Santos, Alberto Calderón, Frederich Cepeda Cruz, Alfredo Despaigne Rodríguez and Yosvany Peñalver

Four players, pitchers Cousin, Chi Montoya, Andy Rodriguez and infielder Prieto, made the shortlist to represent Cuba in the U-23 World Cup qualifier as well as the Olympic qualifier.

Cuba will compete in group B of the Americas Olympics Qualifier with Venezuela, Canada and Colombia. The top two finishers will advance to the super round together with the top two seeds of group A (USA, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Nicaragua. The winner of the super round will qualify for the Tokyo Olympics, the runner up and the third-place team will play in the Final Qualifier from 1 to 5 April in Chinese Taipei.
