Media accreditation open for Americas and Final Olympic baseball qualifiers

Media accreditation is now open for the WBSC Baseball Americas Qualifier and the WBSC Baseball Final Qualifier for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020.

All members of the media, both local/national and international, who wish to cover WBSC Olympic qualifiers must apply through the official WBSC Media Accreditation online platform at my.wbsc.org.

Deadlines:

• Americas Qualifier: Sunday, 15 March
• Final Qualifier: Saturday, 28 March

Media credentials will be distributed at the pre-tournament press conferences the day prior to the start of the respective event.

Road to Tokyo 2020

The eight participating nations in the 22-26 March WBSC Americas Baseball Qualifier in Surprise and Tempe, Arizona, include host and world No. 2 USA, Canada (No. 12), Colombia (No. 14), Cuba (No. 8), Dominican Republic (No. 10), Nicaragua (No. 15), Puerto Rico (No. 11) and Venezuela (No. 9). The winner of this qualifier will earn a place in the 2020 Olympics. Full schedule here.

The six teams competing in the WBSC Baseball Final Qualifier in Taiwan from 1-5 April include host Chinese Taipei (No. 4), Australia (No. 6), China (No. 21), Netherlands (No. 7) and the second- and third-place finishers from the Americas qualifier. The winner of the Final qualifier will earn the sixth and final berth into the Tokyo 2020 Olympic baseball tournament. The game schedule will be announced in the coming days.

Four nations have already qualified for baseball at the 2020 Olympics: host Japan (world No. 1), Israel (No. 18), Korea (No. 3) and Mexico (No. 5).

GUIDELINES FOR NON-RIGHTS HOLDING (“NRH”) MEDIA

• Coverage by Non-Rights Holding TV/RADIO and Crew
• Only rights holders of applicable games may transmit game footage (audio and/or video) of WBSC events
• NRH media credentials provide access to official training sessions, games, mixed zones, press conferences and any Opening/Closing Ceremonies.
• Credentials will be granted by specific category (i.e., Press, Photographer, Radio, and TV), and stadium access will be granted accordingly.
• Photographers and NRH TV crew will be required to wear WBSC-issued media vests.
