Korea rallies over South Africa in five innings

Hyunbhin Moon hit his first home run of the tournament in the top of the fourth inning. Korea sit in second place in Group A, tied with the Netherlands with two wins and one defeat, behind the undefeated USA.

Five time champions Korea scored in each of the first four at bats on their way to a 14-1 win in five innings over world No. 26 South Africa.

Leadoff Junyoung Jeong had three hits and left fielder Younghoo Kim went 2-for-4. Catcher Bomseok Kim and first baseman Minsuk Kim had three runs batted in each. Hyunbhin Moon hit his first home run in the top of the fourth inning.

World No. 3 Korea scored 14 runs against three South African pitchers.

Starter Youngjin Song allowed one hit over two innings. Manager Jae Ho Choi also sent Myunggeun Park, Yeongwoo Shin and Jinha Lee to the mound.

South Africa scored on a third strike wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth.

Korea sit in second place in Group A, tied with the Netherlands with two wins and one defeat, behind the undefeated USA and Tuesday will see Korea play world No. 8 the Netherlands while South Africa, who have lost two games and have one suspended (10-0 down against USA), will play world No. 12 Canada.
