Chinese Taipei tops Mexico, remains undefeated in Lima

Hsia-Ai Ke was the winner of the game, pitching 3.1 frames in relief. She struck out four, and gave up three hits and a run.

Chinese Taipei defeated Mexico on Wednesday, 5-1, and remains unbeaten in the WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup standings, with a 4-0 record. 

The game remained scoreless for five innings. Mexico had a great oportunity in the fourth inning, with a bases loaded, two-out situation, but Hsia-Ai Ke came into the circle and struck out pinch hitter Jordyn Villanueva to escape the jam.

Ching-Yu Chen started the game for the team from the island, and pitched 3.2 innings, allowing four hits and one walk. 

Kuei-Ping Yeh put Chinese Tipei in front with an RBI single in the top of the sixth, and one inning later her team put four more runs to the scoreboard, with RBI singles by Yung-Chi Chang and Chiao-Chi Lai, and a pair of fielder’s choices.

Mexico scored their lone run in the bottom of the seventh, on an RBI double by Yanina Treviño. They loaded the bases again, bringing the potential tying run to the plate. But Hsia-Ai Ke got pinch hitter Romina Ruelas on strikes, to end the game. 

Hsia-Ai Ke was the winner of the game, tossing 3.1 frames in relief. She struck out four, and gave up three hits and a run.

Chinese Taipei is still perfect in the tournament with four wins, while Mexico is still waiting for their first win.
