The National Teams of Colombia, Korea, Nicaragua, Panama, Venezuela and the Netherlands will compete in group play in Hermosillo, one of Mexico's baseball capitals.

The city of Hermosillo will host Group B, the Super Round, the Bronze Medal Game and the World Championship Game of the upcoming WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup, which opens next week, on 23 September, in Mexico.

The National Teams of Colombia, Korea, Nicaragua, Panama, Venezuela and the Netherlands will compete in group play in Hermosillo, considered one of Mexico's baseball capitals.

All Group B games are set to be played at Estadio Sonora. The facility opened in 2013.

The city of Hermosillo was founded in 1700 by Juan Bautista Escalante and since 1879 has been the capital of the state of Sonora. The population is close to one million and is considered one of Mexico's best cities to live in.

Some notable people from the city are Jesus Garcia Corona, the hero of Nacozari, the singer Luis Aguilar, Bill Melendez film director and baseball players like Erubiel Durazo, Elmer Dessens, Francisco Barrios and Luis Gonzalez.

Naranjeros is the most successful team in the Mexican Winter League with 16 pennants. Mexican baseball greats such as Hector Espino, Fernando Valenzuela and Vinicio Castilla wore the Naranjeros' uniform.

Hermosillo will crown baseball's new U-23 World Champions on 2 October.
