The National Federation President Carlos Cordero told local media that the main field at the José Simón Azcona sports complex in Tegucigalpa is in "the best possible condition".

The Baseball Federation of Honduras (FEHBA, Federación Hondureña Béisbol Aficionado) is ready to host one of the two groups of the 12-team WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup 2020 Americas Qualifier, set to begin on Friday.

The President of FEHBA Carlos Cordero (pictured above) announced that the Héctor Chochi Sosa field in the José Simón Azcona sports complex in Tegucigalpa is in "the best possible condition".

The Federation joined efforts with the National Commission for Facilities and Improvement (CONAPID-Comisión Nacional Pro Instalaciones y Mejoramiento) to ensure a renovation that upgraded the venue to "the level required for a world class event".

Renovation included the field of play, the lighting system and the player locker rooms.

World No. 54 Honduras will face in group B in Tegucigalpa No. 8 Cuba, No. 13 Panama, No. 14 Colombia, No. 24 Argentina and No. 59 Guatemala.

World No. 15 Nicaragua, No. 9 Venezuela, No. 10 Dominican Republic, No. 22 Brazil, No. 43 Peru and No. 65 El Salvador will compete in group A in Managua, Nicaragua.
