Czech Republic, Denmark advance to WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup 2022

The Czech Republic and Denmark became the first qualified nations for the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup 2022, which will take place in Auckland, New Zealand, from 26 November to 4 December. The Czech National Softball Team defeated Denmark in the final to claim its fifth consecutive European title.

Denmark jumped ahead in the top of the third inning. Martin Simonsen scored the first run on a passed ball, while Daniel Julenon brought in Frederick Terkelsen with an RBI double.

However, Czech Republic rallied in the sixth frame scoring four runs to take the lead.

Youngster Jakub Osicka, who led the Czech team to a bronze medal in the U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup 2020, excelled in the final, pitching 4.1 innings for one hit ball, with 11 strikeouts.

In the bronze medal game, Croatia made history by claiming its first medal ever in the European Championship, with a 6-4 win against France. Damir Mandić was the hero with a grand slam.
