Denmark homers Philippines to victory over Denmark

The Philippines grabbed an important 8-0 win over Denmark in the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup on Friday in the battle between the two winless sides.

European vice-champions Denmark, ranked 10th in the world, were expected to dominate based on their ninth-place finish at the 2019 Men’s Softball World Cup compared to the Philippines who finished 16^th.

But it was the Asian vice-champions who came out of their corner on fire. Mark Janzen, Michael Pagkaliwagan both scored before Denmark Bathan homered to score Jerome Bacarisas before Justine Rosales also scored to knock the stuffing out of Denmark.

The Philippines added runs in the third, fourth and fifth including a Melvin de Castro homer in the fourth sealed the win.

The Philippines (1-4) play South Africa (1-3) while Denmark (0-4) will play hosts New Zealand (3-0)
