Venezuela scored early and looked in control through the whole game. Juan Perez went five innings for the win, and David Vabalas had three of Venezuela's seven hits.

It was a battle between amongst the top-ranked baseball nations in South American and Asia.

Venezuela scored early and didn't need to look back as they went on to beat Korea, 5-2.

Starting pitcher Juan Perez allowed only two hits over five innings for the win.

Venezuela's offense was keep under control by four Korean pitchers, but the South Americans' hitting proved timely.

Korea didn't need a hit to get on the scoreboard in the top of the third, making it a 3-1 game. The two-run gap was the closest Korea would get to Venezuela.

Right fielder David Vabalas had a three-hit game for Venezuela, including an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth.

Perez walked Woochan Jung, the first batter of the sixth, and left for reliever Sebastian Figueroa. Korea reduced the gap to 5-2 on a single by Seungwoo An, but Figueroa ended the game with a strikeout and groundout.

Venezuela is now 2-1 in the Super Round and will face the No. 7 Dominican Republic on Friday, 5 August. Korea falls to 0-3 and will next face No. 4 Mexico (1-2).
