USA tops Venezuela to become 4x U-12 Baseball World Champions

The United States used 12 hits, including four home runs, to beat Venezuela, 10-2, in the Final of the VI WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup to earn their fourth U-12 Baseball World Title.

"I believe what we did is a just a team effort," commented manager RJ Farrell. "We hit a lot of home runs, but we executed things properly and set up those home runs."

"Coming here to Tainan, playing in front of these fans, it makes it worth making a 15-hour flight to get here," he added. "It's just amazing."

The United States took the lead in the bottom of the second when first baseman Dylan Mercado homered off Venezuela's starter Willangel Sanchez.

Venezuela reversed the lead in the top of the third. Center fielder José Ramos drove the fifth pitcher by reliever James Stout over the right field wall for a two-run home run.

The United States showed they can play some defense. Look at the perfect throw to third by Jonah Saken to end the top of the third.

In the bottom of the third, the US took the lead back. With Frausto on, Colin Anderson homered to right center.

Jordan Leon followed with a solo shot to the left.

Catcher Ty Chambless extended the USA lead to 6-2 with a two-RBI double.

In the bottom of the third, Colin Anderson hit a solo home run to the left, making it 7-2. It was his second home run in the game, the seventh in the tournament, and is believed to be the farthest home run in the history of the U-12 Baseball World Cup.

A bases-loaded walk and a two-RBI single by second baseman Maximus Villalva broke the score open in the bottom of the third.

James Stout earned the win pitching 4.1 innings.
