World No. 5 USA reveals national team roster for WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup

USA Baseball has announced its final 18-player national team roster for the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup.

The announcement follows the conclusion of the US National Team Trials, held from 27 June to 1 July at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, North Carolina.

"After an extremely competitive trial process, we are excited to announce this year's roster," said U-12 USA manager RJ Farrell. "We saw an incredible amount of talent this week during trials, making the roster decisions challenging and difficult for our staff. We are confident that the team we have assembled will represent this country and organization well in our pursuit of a world championship in Taiwan."

The roster features 14 players who participated in the 2022 Futures Invitational in June and four athletes who played in the 2021 National Team Identification Series (NTIS) Champions Cup last summer. Both identification events were held at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary.

Additionally, the 2022 roster comprises players from nine different states. California leads all states with six representatives, while Texas follows with five players.

Farrell, who guided USA's 2021 U-12 squad in exhibition play, will make his international debut. His staff will include pitching coach Seth Kenny and assistant coaches Troy Gerlach and Tanner Vesely.

The US won three consecutive WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cups, 2013, 2015 and 2017, and placed second at the last U-12 World Cup in 2019.

The team will now travel to Stockton, California, for training. World No. 5 USA will open their WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2022 on 29 July against No. 14 Czech Republic.
