Sergio Contreras’ 4-for-5 night and Andres Garza’s 4 RBI powered host Mexico past Colombia, 11-7, in both teams' last game in the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2022 in Hermosillo. Mexico recovered from a two-run deficit in the fifth, scoring five runs to overtake Colombia in the Placement Round contest Saturday night.
Garza hit a clutch bases-clearing double in the fifth to give Mexico the advantage in the game. He added one more RBI in the seventh inning.
Six Mexican pitchers took the mound tonight, with Jorge Guzman getting the win in 1.1 innings of work. The loss was charged to Carlos Galindo.
