The final stage of the first-ever WBSC Virtual Cup will be staged on Sunday, 27 November in Korea.

The Super Round of the WBSC Virtual Cup, the WBSC’s first-ever eSport competition, was completed on 23 October, confirming the nine Division Champions and three wild cards who advance to the finals, set to take place in Seoul, Korea on Sunday, 27 November.

The Super Round was played through single-elimination brackets with the top team from each division, plus three wild cards, advancing to the 12-team World Finals including the WBSC eSports official Tournament Ambassador of the WBSC Virtual Cup 2022 Jinhyoung Park (Parkco) whose team BaekRyu님의 팀 scored the highest in Division 1 to qualify for the final.

A total of 47 teams had previously advanced to the Super Round from the Opening Round, that counted 8,146 participating players from around the world. The Opening Round ran for the entire month of September in bars in Korea, Japan, Mexico and the United States.

For the final stage, teams will be divided into four groups of three teams and compete in a round-robin. The winner of each group advances to the final round. The winning team of the inaugural WBSC Virtual Cup will be awarded US$10,000 in prize money. The WBSC will also award the winners of the WBSC Virtual Cup digital trophies and medals in NFT format.

The WBSC Virtual Cup, hosted through Newdin's Strikezon state-of-art technology as the virtual field-of-play, is played by two-player teams that play in a simulation batting cage, in front of a screen baseball game.

In December 2020, the WBSC approved the inclusion of esports and virtual/electronic versions of baseball and softball among its official disciplines.
