Hsia-Ai Ke strong outing lifts Chinese Taipei to 4-1 win over Italy

Hsia-Ai Ke, who starred in last year’s WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup, pitched a complete game, giving up 5 hits and 1 run, while striking out 8.

Young pitching star Hsia-Ai Ke tossed seven strong innings and designated player Chia-Yi Chen hit a go-ahead, two-run single to lift Chinese Taipei to a 4-1 win over Italy. The win improves Chinese Taipei's record to 2-1 in Group B.

Hsia-Ai Ke, who starred in last year’s WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup, pitched a complete game, giving up 5 hits and 1 run, while striking out 8. She was the winner of the contest.

On the offensive side, six different Chinese Taipei players had a hit, but none as important as Chia-Yi Chen’s single up the middle that drove in LIN Feng-Chen Lin and Yi-Ting Yang to break a 1-1 tie in the third.

For Italy, Olympian Amanda Fama was perfect at the plate, collecting 3 of Italy’s 5 hits of the game. She produced her team’s only run of the game to tie the score in the top of the third.

Chinese Taipei finishes group play with a 2-1 record and now awaits for the result between USA and Canada to define their fate in the tournament. Italy finishes the group stage with no wins in three games.
