USA wins gold medal, Japan Silver, Chinese Taipei bronze

USA defeated Japan, 3-2, in The World Games final to earn the gold medal and the title of world champion. In the bronze medal game, Chinese Taipei defeated Australia, 6-0, and won a medal at a world championship level after 20 years.

Haylie McCleney was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of The World Games softball competition.

Japan 2-3 USA

Top 5th: JPN 2-3 USA - Japan added one, with an RBI single by Yui Sakamoto

Top 3rd: JPN 1-3 USA - Minori Naito singles through the middle of the field to bring home Hitomi Kawabata.

Bottom 2nd: JPN 0-3 USA - Janae Jefferson this a bases-clearing double to left-center field to score the first three runs of the game. USA strikes first.

Australia 0-6 Chinese Taipei

Bottom 5th: AUS 0-6 TPE - Feng-Chen Lin triples to right field, and scores on a single by Chia-Wen Chen. Chinese Taipei adds another run on a double steal play.

Bottom 4th: AUS 0-4 TPE - Chinese Taipei loads the bases and scores one on a sacrifice fly by Feng-Chen Lin.

Bottom 2nd: AUS 0-3 TPE - Yi-Ting Yang and Feng-Chen Lin get RBI singles to center field.

Bottom 1st: AUS 0-1 TPE - Chia-Yi Chen puts Chinese Taipei in front with a RBI single up the middle.

Puerto Rico 1-0 Canada

Top 1st: PUR 1-0 CAN - Puerto Rico jumps ahead with doubles by Aleshia Ocasio and Karla Claudio.

Mexico 1-4 Italy

Bottom 6th: MEX 1-4 ITA - RBI hits by Amanda Fama and Elisa Cecchetti, and a sacrifice fly by Sarah Edwards give Italy a 3-run edge.

Top 5th: MEX 1-1 ITA - Kiana Estrada doubles to right field to plate Alex Casas. The game is tied at one.

Bottom 1st: MEX 0-1 ITA - An RBI triple by Amanda Fama puts Italy on the board, bringing home Laura Vigna from second.
