Medals revealed for The World Games 2022 where softball will be played

The World Games 2022 has unveiled the gold, silver and bronze medals that will be awarded this summer in Birmingham, Alabama, USA.

Eight of the top-nine women’s softball teams in the world will compete in the multi-sport event for the gold medal from 9-13 July at Hoover Met Stadium.

“Just as athletes from around the world will soon step up to seize their moment of glory, this is Birmingham’s moment to step up on the global stage. Now that the Olympics are over, we are the world’s next, big international sports competition,” said Nick Sellers, CEO of The World Games 2022.

Eight teams have qualified to compete in softball at the multi-sport event, including all six squads that competed in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games -- No. 1 Japan, No. 2 USA, No. 3 Canada, No. 4 Mexico, No. 8 Italy and No. 9 Australia -- in addition to No. 6 Chinese Taipei and No. 7 China.

The official softball schedule has been revealed, with the openers set for 9 July.

A 90-second hype video was also released, featuring stirring music and fast-paced images of the sports that are part of the Games’ programme.
