The World Games 2022: Trophy reveal of WBSC Women’s Softball World Champions

The World Games softball competition is set to open on 9 July at Hoover Met Stadium, with the top eight teams in the WBSC Women's Softball World Rankings. The multi-sports event will not only award gold medals to the winning team, but also the title of women’s softball world champion. The symbol of the world title is a beautiful trophy manufactured by Fratelli Pazzaglia, an icon of triumph at the highest level in the softball world.

The 45-centimetre-high trophy, which was delivered for the first time at the Women’s Softball World Championship 2018 in Chiba, was designed on a 2D drawing, and re-designed later, using a 3D machine to a have a three-dimensional idea of the encumbrance of the object. 

Most parts of the trophy are made by metal brass, with details in 24k gold or silver. It weighs 5,5 kg, and represents the new WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup logo.

Parts of the trophy are hand-finished by artisans and treated with galvanic processes to give different chromatic effects, applying the gold, argent, satin or polished finishes. In some of cases, the components are decorated with specific coloured enamels.

The final step is the most important one, which is the assembly of the trophy: in this phase the artisan team assemble every components with a extreme care, respecting the most rigorous Italian artisan tradition.
