Baseball Champions League Americas: Barranquilla Caimanes, the team that has to "always win"

President Roberto Char Carson launched his slogan: "Caimanes tiene que ganar siempre. Siempre" (Caimanes have to win always. Always). They earned 12 National Titles since the 1964-85 season and will represent the Colombian Professional League at the inaugural Baseball Champions League Americas.

The inaugural Baseball Champions League Americas will feature four teams representing four professional leagues. The Barranquilla Caimanes will represent the Colombia Professional League (LPB, Liga Profesional de Beisbol).

Professional Baseball in Colombia has lived through three eras: 1949-1958, 1979-1988, and 1994 to present.

Caimanes started their activity in the amateur Atlantic League in the 1960s, winning the 1970, 1971 and 1972 titles. They changed their names to Caimanes in the 1984-1985 season, when they won their first professional title. Caimanes won 12 league titles since, the last in the 2021-22 season.

They play in the Edgar Renteria Stadium, the main venue of the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup 2018.

President Roberto Char Carson believes that Caimanes tiene que ganar siempre. Siempre (Caimanes have to win always. Always).

Caimanes announced their final roster for the Baseball Champions League Americas.

The roster features four players who helped Colombia win a bronze medal at the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup 2020: pitchers Elkin Alcala and Jassier Herrera, outfielder Jesus Marriaga and catcher Gustavo Campero. Campero, who spent the summer at the Double-A level for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB), was also on the World Baseball Classic roster. The manager of the 2021 Colombian U-23 National Team, Josè Mosquera, led the Caimanes to the 2021 and 2022 LPBH titles.

Pitchers Ruben Galindo, Santiago Flores, and infielder Carlos Arroyo helped Colombia finish fifth in the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup 2022.
