Granma adds 15 players from other Cuban National League teams to Champions League roster

Meet the team representing the Cuban National League in the inaugural Baseball Champions League Americas.

The inaugural Baseball Champions League Americas will feature four teams representing four professional leagues. The Alazanes will represent the Cuban National League (Serie Nacional).

The Alazanes (Chestnuts) of Granma are based in Bayamo, the capital of the Granma Province in the Eastern part of Cuba. They play at the Martires de Barbados Stadium.

They have participated in 46 Cuban National League campaigns since their debut in the 1977-78 season. They became one of the most successful teams of the decade, with four titles in the last seven editions, including the 2022 championship. Carlos Martì led Granma to all their titles. Leonardo Soto will manage Granma in the Baseball Champions League Americas.

Granma added to their roster 15 players from other Cuban National League teams, including five players who helped Las Tunas to the 2023 title: pitchers Keniel Ferraz and Alberto Pablo Civil, catcher Yosvany Alarcon, infielder Yordanis Alarcon and outfielder Hector Castillo.

INFIELDERS (9) Guillermo Avilés Difurnó, Osvaldo Abreu Sánchez, Yulián Milán Santos, Pedro Almeida Yosvani Millán, Yordanis Samón Matamoros (CMG), Aníbal Medina Pérez (MTZ), Andrés de La Cruz Matos (GTM) and Yordanis Alarcón Tardío (LTU).
OUTFIELDERS Darián Palma Fonseca, Raico Santos Almeida, Alexquemer Sánchez Sánchez, Héctor Castillo Blair (LTU) and Yoan Moreno Martínez (ART).

The team has worked out in Matanzas and played warmup games against the Cuban National Team pre-selection for the Pan American Games.
