Meet Merida, the host city of the inaugural Baseball Champions League Americas

The capital of the Mexican State of Yucatan will host the seven games at the Parque Kukulcán Alamo.

The Baseball Champions League Americas is the first step towards the WBSC Baseball Champions League, a new concept in baseball with teams worldwide representing their club, city and fans on the world stage.

Mexico will host the inaugural Baseball Champions League Americas in Merida, the capital of the State of Yucatan.

Yucatan occupies the northern portion of the Yucatan Peninsula. Merida is located in the northwest part of the State and is the largest city in southeastern Mexico, with over 900,000 inhabitants, exceeding 1.3 million in its metropolitan area.

Merida, named twice the American Capital of Culture, has a rich cultural heritage from the combination of the Maya and Spanish cultures. Conquistador Francisco de Montejo (1479-1553) and his son Francisco de Montejo El Mozo (The Younger. 1608-1564) founded Merida 1542 on the ruins of Ti'ho, a Mayan settlement.

The Parque Kukulcán Alamo will host the inaugural Baseball Champions League America.

The home of the Leones de Yucatan opened in 1982 and was renovated in 2015. It can host approximately 15,000 fans.

The field measures 330 feet (or 100m) along the left and right field lines and 400 feet (or 122m) in centre.

The stadium was named after Kukulkan, the serprent deity of the Mayam mythology.
