Bin Mohammad's grand slam propels Singapore past Israel for final Placement Round win

The Singaporean infielder went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and scored a run to lead his team to a 6-1 victory over Israel.

With two outs in the fourth inning and the bases loaded, Singapore infielder Huzaifie Bin Mohammad sent a Kfair Leon pitch deep over the centre field fence that highlighted Singapore's 6-1 win over Israel in the final game of the WBSC U-23 Men's Softball World Cup Placement Round.

The Asian squad took an early lead in the first inning, with an RBI single off the bat of Audric Chia. Bin Mohammad's grand slam gave Singapore a comfortable 5-0 cushion in the fourth and an inning later the Asian side scored their last run as Chian crossed the plate on a wild pitch.

Israel’s only run of the game was a home run by Bar-Arie Shrim in the bottom of the sixth. It was also the only hit of the European team in the game.

Jeron Tan and Mathew Tan combined for the one-hitter. Jeron pitched five innings and 10 strikeouts, allowing one hit, one run and three walks. Mathew pitched in the next two innings with three strikeouts.

Singapore finished in ninth place, while Israel placed 10th overall.
