Connor Brooks, Mason McKay power Canada's four-inning win over Team WBSC

Canada’s offence erupted with six runs in the fourth to bounce back and earn their first win of the tournament.

Connor Brooks and Mason McKay led Canada’s offence with a pair of three-RBI performances in Sunday's 11-1 win over Team WBSC in four innings at the WBSC Men's U-23 Softball World Cup. The North American offence erupted with six runs in the fourth to and earn their first win of the tournament.

As both teams wanted to rebound after their respective Day 1 losses, it was the Canadians who came out victorious at El Plumazo.

Canada went ahead in the scoreboard in the second inning. After two quick outs, they took advantage of a costly error by pitcher Juan Diego Morales to score the first two runs of the game and capped the three-run inning with an RBI single by Isaac Lefevbre.

In the third, Canada mounted again a two-run rally, with three consecutive singles, the last one a two-run single off the bat of McKay, extending it to a 5-0 lead.

Team WBSC scored their only run of the game, when Diego Guerra was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. However, reliever Jordan Hudson escaped the jam with a strikeout and a grounder.

In the bottom of the fourth, Canada scored six runs to end the game. Brooks hit a two-out bases-clearing double to end the game.

Canada is now 1-1 in Group B, while Team WBSC dropped their record to 0-2.
