Netherlands sweep today’s doubleheader with run-difference win over South Africa

The Netherlands used a 14-hit offensive effort to clinch an 11-1 win over South Africa in four innings. Maxime Van Dalen homered in the bottom of the third, while seven different Dutch players recorded at least one RBI in the game. 

Netherlands only needed three offensive innings to score 11 runs and get enough run difference in the scoreboard to end the game in the fourth. In the bottom of the first, the European Champions sent 11 batters and scored seven runs to secure the game.

In the second, Cindy Van der Zanden and Sterre Den Duijn produced a run each, while in the third Van Dalen homered to right field.

The only run for South Africa was scored by Katlego Aphane in the top of the second.

Lizzie Clarijs pitched the four innings for the Netherlands, giving up three hits and one unearned run while striking out three.
