The World Baseball Softball Confederation (“WBSC”) announced today a multi-year Baseball World Cup® media rights partnership with Tokyo-based Hakuhodo DY media partners, Inc. (“Hakuhodo”) for the territory of Japan.

The seven-year agreement, which runs through 2028, exclusively awards Hakuhodo the media rights in Japan for all WBSC’s Baseball World Cups, including the U-23 Baseball World Cup, the U-18 Baseball World Cup, the U-15 Baseball World Cup, the U-12 Baseball World Cup and the Women’s Baseball World Cup. The partnership was realized through a joint effort by the WBSC and its commercial arm, BASE International S.A.

“The WBSC is proud to continue to partner with Hakuhodo, a very influential and highly respected media agency in Japan that knows our sport,” said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari. “Hakuhodo has been a trusted WBSC partner since 2012, and we highly recognize and appreciate their valuable contribution to both our global sport and organization.

“This multi-year partnership reflects baseball’s No. 1 status in Japan and the growing importance of top-level international baseball/national team platforms like the Baseball World Cups, which feature the best players in the world in their respective categories.”

“It is a great honor to be able to continue our partnership with the WBSC for this world-renowned event. In Japan, baseball is the most popular sport, and the WBSC Baseball World Cup® is the stage where future stars of Japan, the "Samurai Japan" of each generation, will play. Our goal is to use our innovative resources in collaboration with major broadcasters and take this pinnacle event to the next level.” said Katsutoshi Iwasa, Sports Business Division General Manager of Hakuhodo DY media partners

The WBSC and Hakuhodo first partnered in 2012 for the U-18 Baseball World Cup.
