12U BWC: USA scores early, often in Win over Russia

United States defeated Russia 19-0 as play resumes at 12U Baseball World Cup

Youth Park/Taipei City. For the third time in the II 12U Baseball World Cup the United States no-hit an opponent. On Wednesday morning they defeated Russia 19-0 at Youth Park, improving to 4-1 in the tournament. Russia dropped to 1-4. The US boys scored five runs in the first and 11 in the second en route to the blowout.

The US offense didn’t show any rust following the rest day, getting things started quickly. Adam Crampton went 2-for-3 with four runs and three RBI to give a spark out of the leadoff spot. Jakob Hines collected three hits, three runs and three RBI. Joseph Naranjo drove in four.

Russia had just two base runners in the game. Vladislav Nikolaev and Ivan Konstanistov walked in the second and the fourth, but were left stranded on first. Pitchers Yohandy Morales, Garrett McMillan and Evan Godwin combined in the no-hitter, striking out eight in the four innings played.

Pavel Demidov conceded 14 hits, 16 runs (15 ER) and three walks in two frames, taking the loss. Nikita Nizov closed it out.

Team USA will conclude play in the first round of the II 12U Baseball World Cup on Thursday morning at Tien-Mou Stadium. Russia hopes for its second win at Youth Park in the afternoon, their last game of the tournament.
