15U BWC: Cuba dismantles Hong Kong

Cuba put on a show in their first game at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship in Mexico. Playing in Parral they dismantled Hong Kong 31-4 in five innings. Seven runs in the first, 12 in the third and ten in the fourth turned the game into a whopping blowout.

Rangel Ramos, Alexander Guerra and Alejandro Rivero had big days by scoring four times apiece. Guerra and Rivero additionally also drove in five runs each. Overall 13 different players crossed the plate for Cuba. Hong Kong scored all four of their runs in the third, taking advantage of a couple of walks and wild pitches. Yik Shun Yiu had their lone hit in the same frame.

On the mound Johan Oviedo allowed four runs on one hit and six walks in three innings, getting all nine of his outs through strikeouts. Edgar Escobar and Luis Ramos closed it out with two perfect frames. Yu Hei Lau took the loss, giving up three hits, seven runs (1 ER) and two walks, while lasting just two outs in the first.
