Team Italy defeated Hong Kong 17-5 in seven innings in the second day of the second round at the 15U Baseball World Championship held in Chihuahua, Mexico.

The Europeans took an immediate lead with powerful hitting and aggressive base running, scoring runs in every inning, starting with three runs in the first and a big eight-run fourth that gave the game a virtual end.

Hong Kong hit safely only four times in the game, bat could take advantage of a four-error fifth from the Italian defense, that allowed the opposition five runs.

Italy had 16 hits, with a double, three triples and two homeruns by Federico Giordani and Giorgio Massari (two-run). Winning pitcher was Ludovico Coveri.
