75th All Japan Women's Softball Championship to be played in Saga Prefecture this weekend

Under the current rules, the 16 teams belonging to JD.League will participate in this tournament without qualifying.

The 75th All Japan Women's Softball Championship is ready to go this weekend in Saga Prefecture with a total of 32 participating teams, including the 16 squads from the JD.League, Japan’s professional softball league.

The "All Japan Women's Championship" is a tournament founded in 1949, and it is the most historic and traditional tournament in Japanese softball. Any team can participate in the tournament as long as they win the prefectural and district qualifiers.

Under the current rules, the 16 teams belonging to JD.League will participate in this tournament without qualifying. In addition, the winning and runner-up teams of the previous year are also exempted from qualifying and can participate in the main tournament straight.

The tournament is structured under a single-elimination bracket, with the final slated for Monday, 18 September, at midday local time. The Opening Ceremony, with all teams in attendance, was held on Friday.

Bic Camera Takasaki is the most successful team in the competition with 18 titles (playing under different names).
