The Australian Women’s All-Star team will take on the Victorian All-Star team on Sunday December 22 at Melbourne Ballpark in the 2nd annual ABL Women’s All-Star Game.

The game will once again be a curtain raiser to the Melbourne Aces versus Sydney Blue Sox game at 2:00pm, after last year’s inaugural crowd pleaser was held in Sydney before a Blue Sox v Aces clash.

Team Australia Manager Simone Wearne will manage the Australian All-Star team: “It’s an exciting time for women’s baseball in this country, with Baseball Australia and the ABL committing to the second annual ABL Women’s All-Star Game.  This year, with the game in Melbourne, it will give the reigning National Champion Victorian team a chance to match up against an Australian All-Star team”.

Wearne also explains, “The coaching staff and players are really looking forward to getting out on the field and showing the people of Melbourne how far the group has come.  It will be a great opportunity for the girls to play in a curtain raiser to an ABL game and it will also be a great work out as we lead into National Team selection for next year’s World Cup”.

Following the announcement of the Men’s ABL All-Star Game last week, Jet Couriers Melbourne Aces General Manager Windsor Knox is excited to be hosting two All Star Games in one week, “female participation is growing tremendously in Australia and the Melbourne Aces are proud to support the week”.

On Saturday December 21 the teams will also participate in a special Training with the Pros, which is specifically for girls and coached by females. Sponsored by Major League Baseball International it will again provide the opportunity for younger female ball players to be coached by the players of the All-Star team.

Both the ABL Women’s All-Star game and the Training with the Pros are a part of the continued commitment to harness the future development of women’s baseball in Australia.
